Most WordPress SEO workflows break down between planning and implementation. iCap SEO runs a real, cloud-connected scan of your site, tells you exactly what’s holding your pages back in plain language, and fixes most of what it finds — automatically, or with a preview you approve first.

Every scan checks title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, content depth and readability, page security headers, crawlability, structured data (schema.org), image optimization, and internal/external link health. Each check is scored, explained in plain language, and — where it’s safe to automate — fixed for you with one click.
- Free checks (15) — the baseline on-page audit (title tags, meta descriptions, H1, content depth), plus image alt text, dimensions, and lazy loading, canonical URLs, JSON-LD presence, heading structure, and basic internal links. They run on your own site; registering adds scores, full scans, and suggested fixes.
- Crawlability & security (premium) — HTTPS, robots.txt and page-level robots directives, search visibility, and server security headers.
- Content quality & readability (premium) — content depth, heading and paragraph structure, plain-language readability, plus sentence-level checks for overly long sentences, missing transition words, and excessive passive voice.
- Structured data validation (premium) — schema.org types and required properties for richer search results.
- External and broken links (premium) — external reference checks, broken-link detection, and nofollow auditing on internal links.
Most issues get an automatic fix the moment you approve it. Content changes (like expanding thin pages) are always drafted for your review first — nothing publishes without your explicit approval. A handful of checks are guidance-only by design, where the fix lives outside WordPress content entirely (server config, DNS) or isn’t safe to automate (like fabricating a citation).

- Social sharing previews — Open Graph and X Card tags so links to your pages show a proper title, description, and image when shared.
- Redirect manager with a 404 log — send an old URL to a new one with a 301 or 302, and see exactly which broken links visitors and search engines are hitting so you know what to fix next.
- Automatic search-engine indexing — IndexNow pings to Bing and Yandex on publish, update, and delete, so search engines pick up changes faster.
- llms.txt — a generated, always-current file listing your site’s published pages, for AI assistants and crawlers that support the emerging llms.txt convention.
- Local SEO — enter your business name, address, phone, price range, and hours once, and the plugin outputs LocalBusiness structured data site-wide for businesses with a physical location.

- Premium — $59.95/year: unlocks the other 23 checks — crawlability & security, content quality & readability, structured data validation, and external and broken-link checks — on top of the free checks. Billed annually, one flat price, no per-site limits.
- AI Scanning — from $4.99: an add-on on top of Premium. Each AI-generated fix — a drafted meta description, an expanded section, a vision-generated image alt text, an AI-selected internal link, and more — uses a small number of credits depending on the fix. Start small with a 25-credit pack for $4.99, or go with the 100-credit pack for $19.95 once you know your usage — same price per credit either way. Credits never expire and roll over between purchases; buy more anytime from the plugin’s dashboard when you run low.
Upgrading and buying AI credits all happen from inside the plugin (Overview and Settings tabs) — no separate account portal, no manual invoicing.
Dashboard and workflow
- Setup Wizard: guided onboarding flow for site connection and your first scan.
- Content Scores: a full checklist for every page — what’s passing, what needs attention, and why — plus a site-wide score-distribution view, one-click fixes, and rescans.
- Live in-editor analysis: a real-time SEO score and checklist right in the post editor — block editor or Classic Editor. It updates as you type and includes a live search-result preview and social-share preview. Structured data is validated as you draft, so you catch schema issues before you publish, not after the next scan.
- Notifications: a single inbox for reconnect nudges (Google Search Console / Analytics), billing alerts, and newly-found broken links, instead of hunting through banners.
- Site Health: a site-wide score, environment checks (permalink structure, full-text RSS feeds), and a summary of what’s been scanned — also available as a WordPress Dashboard widget on your site’s Dashboard Home.
AI-assisted recommendations
Live today, as a paid add-on on top of Premium (see Pricing above). Several of the plugin’s fixes are genuinely AI-generated rather than templated: Claude reads each page’s actual content and drafts meta descriptions, page titles, section headings, expanded content for thin pages, simplified rewrites for hard-to-read paragraphs, and spelling/grammar corrections — tailored to that specific page, not filled in from a generic pattern. Image alt text is generated by a vision-capable model looking at the image itself, not guessed from its filename. Internal linking uses AI to choose the most topically relevant pages to link to, not just the most recently updated ones. Structured data recognizes FAQ- and how-to-formatted content already on the page and applies the correct schema type automatically, unlocking richer search results where it’s genuinely warranted — never fabricated.
The same review guarantee applies throughout: fixes that generate substantial new content (expanded paragraphs, simplified rewrites, spelling/grammar corrections) are always drafted for your review first, nothing publishes without your explicit approval. Shorter, bounded fixes (a meta description, a heading, alt text) apply automatically, with a safe fallback to the previous template-based behavior if AI generation isn’t available.
Still on the roadmap: an optional AI judgment pass that reviews scoring for nuance rules can’t catch (tone, intent match, calls-to-action), and a prompted, site-wide “do what I ask across my whole site” capability. No release date yet — we’ll update this page when they ship.

Download the source archive from the public repository, package the wordpress-plugin/icap-seo directory, then upload it in WordPress via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Option 2: Git clone + manual copy

Public roadmap and release model
Development is public and iterative. Cloud-connected scanning, the full 38-check catalog, the live in-editor analysis panel, and AI-generated drafts for several of its automatic fixes are all live today. We’re prioritizing multi-site validation and stability ahead of formal WordPress.org submission, with AI-driven judgment scoring and a prompted, site-wide upgrade capability next on the roadmap.
